Frac-fluid + industrial applications use formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, or DBNPA biocides at 50-200 ppm; food + pharma applications use food-grade preservatives at lower concentrations. Visible turbidity, gas bubbles, or odor change indicates contamination; discard + remake.

Acid-Hydrolysis Sensitivity. Guar gum's mannose-galactose backbone hydrolyzes in low-pH (below pH 4) service over hours to days, reducing functional viscosity.
