Norwesco Doorway Tanks
Norwesco doorway tanks are narrow, upright polyethylene tanks made to fit through doorways, so you can put water storage inside a basement, garage, utility room or cabin. They range from 100 gallons up to 1,000 gallons. Most are white (natural), and some sizes also come in black or green.
What people use them for
- Backup and emergency water stored indoors
- Holding water from a low-yield well in a basement or pump room
- Water storage in cabins and small homes
- Rainwater storage in a garage or shed
Sizes and features
Widths run from 13 inches on the 100 gallon slim line tank up to 40 inches on the 1,000 gallon tank. Several sizes come in two footprints, such as the 250 and 300 gallon tanks at 25 or 29 inches wide, so you can trade width for height. Most tanks have a 1-1/4 inch outlet, and the 750 and 1,000 gallon tanks have a 2 inch outlet with a siphon tube. Lids range from 5 inches to a 16 inch manway. Standard white tanks are rated to 1.5 specific gravity, and the green tanks are for water only. Check each product's specifications for the exact width, length, height and fittings.
Before you order
- Measure the path. Measure the narrowest door, hallway or stairway the tank has to pass through, and compare it to the tank's width and height.
- Check the floor. Water weighs about 8.3 lbs per gallon, so a full 500 gallon tank holds over 4,000 lbs of water. Set it on a level floor that supports the whole bottom.
- Above ground only. These tanks are not made to be buried. For burial, see Norwesco Underground Water Tanks.
- Not for fuel. Don't use these tanks for gasoline, diesel or any other fuel.

Can I store drinking water in a doorway tank?
The tanks are molded from FDA-compliant polyethylene. If your project needs NSF 61, check the Certifications line on the product page or call us.
