The Norwesco 3450 Gallon Vertical Water Storage Tank (SKU 44665) is a black polyethylene bulk-storage tank built for high-volume water storage on a fixed footprint. It stands 119" tall overall on a 96"-diameter base, holds 3,450 gallons of working capacity, and ships empty at 445 lbs. The tank carries a 1.1 specific-gravity rating, an FDA-approved resin, a 16" lid, and a 2" outlet, and is rated for contents up to 120 F / 48 C. The black color blocks light to slow algae growth in stored water — one reason this vertical Norwesco tank is a common pick for rural, agricultural, and site-water service.
Will it work for your site?
Plan the pad and the plumbing around real filled weight, not the empty shipping weight. At 3,450 gallons of water the load is 28,773 lbs; the tank's 1.1 SG rating means it is engineered to hold that full 3,450-gallon volume with liquids up to 1.1 specific gravity — not spare capacity to overfill past a full tank. The full-water footprint is a 96"-diameter circle, so size your concrete pad to carry that point load across the base. Note that 119" is the overall height to the top head — the 16" lid sits above the waterline, so check the technical drawing on this page for the fill line versus overall height before you plan any overflow, vent, or gravity-feed elevation. If you are laying a new pad, our concrete pad sizing guide walks the ACI 360R-10 framework, and the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help you confirm 3,450 gallons is the right capacity before you commit.
Fittings — read before you plumb
As the name says, this is the "Without Fitting" configuration: it ships with the 16" lid up top and a 2" outlet port at the base, but no bulkhead fitting or gasket installed on that port. Plan to add a bulkhead fitting and gasket rated to the 2" outlet as part of your install, and confirm the fitting and gasket materials suit your stored liquid before you fill.
Freight
This tank ships LTL freight from Texas, quoted live to your ZIP — a tank this size travels as a single oversized piece, so freight is priced by destination rather than bundled into the list price. Use the Freight Cost Estimator for a freight quote to your address, or call 866-418-1777 and we will work it out with you.
The mistake to avoid
The 1.1 SG rating is the number that trips people up. This tank is engineered for water and other liquids at 1.1 specific gravity or lighter, within the 120 F temperature limit. If you are considering it for fire-protection reserve or reuse-water duty, confirm your stored liquid stays at or under 1.1 SG — heavier contents call for a higher-SG-rated tank, so talk to us at 866-418-1777 before you order for that duty. For fire-water reservoir planning see our NFPA 22 reservoir design guide, and for grey-water, rainwater, or condensate aggregation see our water reuse topology guide. Before you fill on day one, follow our hydrostatic test methodology to catch fitting leaks and pad settlement. See the technical drawing on this page for exact port placement, and reach us at 866-418-1777 with any question before you order.
