Norwesco low profile water tanks are built for hauling water and other liquids on a flatbed truck or trailer when you need a large quantity but height is limited. Their long, low, rectangular shape keeps the center of gravity down for a steadier ride. That same low height makes them a popular low profile water storage tank wherever a vertical tank won't fit: under decks, in crawl spaces, in barns, or under a cabin.
Common uses
- Hauling water to livestock, job sites and remote cabins
- Dust control and wash-down water on construction sites
- Farm and ranch spraying
- Emergency and backup drinking water storage
Food grade and built to last
Rotationally molded from FDA-compliant, food grade, UV-stabilized polyethylene, so fresh potable (drinking) water can be stored and transported safely. The seamless one-piece tank won't rust or corrode and holds up outdoors year-round.
Standard on the 1,250–2,400 gallon hauling tanks
- 16" vented manway on top
- 2" threaded outlet fitting with 2" siphon
- White is the standard color
- Additional fittings available on request
The 2,400-gallon horizontal box tank adds slosh-reduction ribs for a steadier haul. We also carry flat-bottom utility and loaf tanks around 1,000 gallons, a compact option for a water transport tank (the 1,000-gallon flat-bottom tank also comes in black). Those two have an 8" threaded lid and no outlet fitting.
Hauling and installation tips
- Check your weight. Water weighs about 8.3 lbs per gallon, so a full 1,500-gallon tank carries roughly 12,500 lbs of water before you count the tank itself. That's well beyond a pickup's rating, so plan on a flatbed truck or trailer rated for the load.
- Strap it down. Steel tie-down bands typically aren't available for these tanks; most customers secure them with heavy-duty nylon straps.
- Support the whole bottom. Whether hauling or stationary, set the tank on a flat, solid surface that supports its entire base.
- Above ground only. Low profile tanks are not made to be buried.
Water hauling tanks here range from 1,000 to 2,400 gallons, including 1,250, 1,275, 1,500 and 2,400 gallon sizes. Need a tank that stays in one place? See our Vertical Tanks.
NOT INTENDED FOR FUEL USE. Do not use these tanks for gasoline, diesel or any other fuel.
