The Enduraplas 3000 Gallon Black Cone Bottom Tank is a full-drain process vessel built for the chemicals that ruin water-grade tanks. It carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, which is what lets it hold dense acids and concentrated salts that a tank with a lower SG rating may not be rated to handle. Black polyethylene is opaque to UV, which limits light penetration and the algae growth that light drives, suiting it to outdoor metering, dosing, and batch chemical service. The cone bottom drains to the apex, so there is little to no heel of product left behind between batches.

Does it work for your application?

This cone bottom tank measures 90 in diameter by 136 in tall on a 90.0 x 90.0 in footprint, so plan your cone stand and overhead clearance before ordering. Full of water it weighs about 25,020 lb, and at its maximum rated 1.9 SG contents it carries up to 47,538 lb - confirm your cone stand and slab are engineered for that loaded weight, not just the water figure. A cone tank must sit in a matched stand; it cannot stand on its own. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm capacity and weights for your pad, and see our Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix for stand pairing across Norwesco, Snyder, and Enduraplas. This is a 15-degree cone profile; if you are weighing cone angles, compare it against the steeper 30-degree 3000-gallon cone bottom tank before deciding. The technical drawing on this page shows the exact dimensions and fitting locations.

Chemical compatibility

This is a black polyethylene cone-bottom tank with a 1.9 SG rating. The resin is identified as HDLPE but is shown with a trailing question mark in our data - confirm HDLPE versus XLPE with us at 866-418-1777 before committing the tank to chemical service, because crosslinked and linear polyethylene differ in chemical resistance. High-demand services this tank is rated for include DEF (32.5%, 316SS fittings), sulfuric acid (98%, CPVC/Viton), and sodium hypochlorite (<16.5%, PVC/Viton). Per the chemical-resistance data (concentration- and temperature-specific), the full rated list, with the fitting and gasket materials that match each service, is:

Match the fitting and gasket material to your specific chemical and verify against the chemical-resistance data for your exact concentration and operating temperature. The full Chemical Compatibility Database covers each chemical in detail.

The mistake to avoid

The costly error on a cone-bottom chemical tank is pairing it with the wrong gasket. Note that several services here - hydrochloric, phosphoric, sulfuric, and peroxide-based chemicals among them - require Viton or Aflas, not the EPDM that works for salts and glycols. Installing an EPDM gasket on a Viton-rated acid will degrade the seal and leak. The other trap is treating the 1.9 SG rating as headroom: that rating is what makes this tank suitable for dense acids, but your stand and pad still have to carry the full 47,538 lb loaded weight, and the resin still has to be confirmed as HDLPE or XLPE for your chemical before fill.

This tank ships LTL freight, quoted live to your ZIP from the nearest of our plants in Converse, TX or Neche, ND. Two stocking origins (TX and ND) mean shorter LTL lanes to most of the central and southern US. Get a freight estimate with the Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 to confirm fittings, the resin type for your chemical, and stand pairing before you order.
