The Enduraplas 4000 Gallon White Cone Bottom Tank is a full-drain vessel built for chemical and process service where you need to empty the tank completely between batches. The cone geometry sends everything to a single low outlet, so no heel of product sits in the bottom - which matters most for chemistries that crystallize, settle, or drop solids if left standing. Ferric and aluminum sulfate, calcium and magnesium chloride brines, and polyaluminum chloride are all on this tank's compatible list, and all tend to leave a sludge layer in a flat-bottom tank. The cone is the reason you can batch those cleanly. At 4,000 gallons in a 110 x 110 inch footprint and standing 135 inches tall, it carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating - the top of the polyethylene cone bottom range, which is what lets it hold dense acids, brines, and concentrated salts a lower-rated tank should never see.

Will this cone bottom tank work for my job?

This is a true cone bottom tank molded from polyethylene in natural white. The 1.9 SG rating is the number chemical buyers should anchor on: it means the tank is engineered to hold contents up to 1.9 times the weight of water. Full of water alone, this tank holds 33,360 lb. Loaded to its maximum rated contents weight, it carries up to 63,384 lb - nearly double - so your stand, ring, or saddle has to be sized for that load. This is also the highest SG rating available in a poly cone bottom at this capacity; there is no heavier-rated poly option to step up to, so you are not waiting on something stronger. See the technical drawing on this page for outlet location and overall dimensions, and use our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm the 4000 gallon size fits your batch volume and headroom. To match the right stand to this geometry, the Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix walks through Norwesco, Snyder, and Enduraplas fitment.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded in polyethylene and carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating. Confirm HDLPE vs XLPE with us before chemical service - cross-linked and high-density linear resins behave differently, and for the most aggressive oxidizers on this list (sulfuric acid, sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide) the resin confirmation is decision-critical, not a formality. Each pairing below is valid only at or below the stated concentration and at ambient temperature; hotter or stronger service can change the right tank and gasket entirely. Always verify against the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific. Confirmed-compatible chemicals for this tank include:

The mistake to avoid on a cone bottom chemical tank

The two errors that cost cone bottom buyers the most are under-rating specific gravity and mismatching fittings. This is a 1.9 SG tank, so it covers heavy chemistries like 98% sulfuric acid and saturated potassium hydroxide - but for the most aggressive of those (sulfuric, hydrochloric, peroxide, hypochlorite), the fitting and gasket material in the list above is not optional. Sulfuric needs CPVC fittings with Viton, hypochlorite needs Viton, and DEF and peracetic acid call for 316SS - run the wrong gasket and you get a leak at the bulkhead, not the tank wall. The second trap is treating it as free-standing. A stand rated for the 33,360 lb water-full weight is not adequate for 1.9-SG chemical service at 63,384 lb - nearly twice the load. Anyone who tests with water and then switches to chemical will overload the structure; size the stand to the 63,384 lb max rated contents weight from the start. For instrumentation on a cone tank, our guide on tank level gauge selection for chemical service compares radar, ultrasonic, hydrostatic, and magnetostrictive options.
