The Bushman 150 Gallon Plastic Rain Barrel Tank (SKU RC150-2GREEN) is a green polyethylene rainwater catchment tank built for homeowners and small-site operators collecting roof runoff for irrigation, garden supply, and outdoor reuse. It holds 150 gallons in an upright unit measuring 57 by 57 by 57 inches, roughly a 23-square-foot footprint, so plan a spot along a wall or beneath a downspout where a unit that size fits cleanly. Dimensions are verified against the launch spec. The green wall is not just cosmetic: an opaque, dark color blocks light and helps hold back algae growth in stored rainwater.

Will it work for your setup?

At full capacity this tank carries roughly 1,251 pounds of water, so the pad or ground beneath it has to be level, compacted, and rated for that load. Rainwater weighs about 8.34 pounds per gallon, and a soft or sloped base is the most common cause of a leaning or stressed tank. If you are planning the base, our concrete pad sizing guide walks through the ACI framework for above-ground polyethylene tanks. Not sure 150 gallons matches your roof catchment area? Run the numbers in our Tank Sizing Calculator or read the Tank Sizing Guide before you buy.

Getting the harvesting system right

A catchment tank is one piece of a working harvesting stack. To keep collected water cleaner, size a first-flush diverter to your roof area — our guide on Bushman rainwater harvesting and first-flush diverter sizing follows the Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting. If you are aggregating rainwater with grey-water or condensate across a larger property, the water reuse tank topology guide covers quality-banded storage trains. For rural fire-reserve planning, see our NFPA 22 reservoir design guide. Check the technical drawing on this page for inlet, outlet, and overflow locations before you plumb the tank into your downspout.

The mistake to avoid

Do not treat this as a chemical or potable-water vessel. It is specified for rainwater and outdoor non-potable reuse, and it should stay in that service. In cold climates, plan for freeze protection or full draining ahead of winter — a tank left full through a hard freeze can crack as the water expands.
