The Snyder 225 Gallon Heavy Duty Cone Bottom Tank with Poly Stand (SKU 1560400N51) is built for processors who need full drainage and the chemical headroom to run aggressive solutions. Molded in black high density linear polyethylene with a 1.9 specific gravity rating, this is one of the heaviest-duty 225 gallon cone bottom tanks Snyder offers, and the matched polyethylene stand supports the cone so contents drain completely to the outlet. It stands 43 inches tall on a 48-inch diameter footprint and ships empty at 140 pounds, with an 18-inch threaded vented manway up top for filling, mixing access, and venting.

Will it work for your process

The 1.9 SG rating is the number that matters here. It means the tank walls are engineered to hold liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water, so you can run dense chemistry that would over-stress a standard 1.5 SG shell. Filled with water this tank carries about 1,876 pounds; at its maximum rated contents weight it holds roughly 3,565 pounds of liquid, and the poly stand plus cone geometry are matched to that load. Run the numbers for your own liquid with the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit. The tank carries FDA Approved and NSF 61 listings and is rated to a maximum temperature of 100 degrees F (37 degrees C). If you are weighing a poly stand against a steel frame, our stand selection decision tree and the Norwesco/Snyder/Enduraplas compatibility matrix walk through the tradeoffs.

Chemical compatibility

This shell is HDLPE with a 1.9 SG rating, drawing on the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart. That chart is concentration- and temperature-specific, so confirm your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting and gasket materials before service. Because the 1.9 rating is the top of Snyder's range, this tank covers the demanding acids and oxidizers that lighter tanks cannot. Compatible chemistry from the OEM chart includes sulfuric acid at 98% (CPVC fittings, Viton gaskets), hydrochloric acid at 37% (PVC, Viton), phosphoric acid at 85% (PVC, Viton), hydrofluoric acid at 48% (PP or PVC, Viton), hydrofluosilicic acid at 26% (PP or PVC, Viton), hydrogen peroxide at 50% (PVC, Viton), sodium hypochlorite under 16.5% (PVC, Viton), ferric chloride at 50% (PVC, EPDM), ferric sulfate at 60% (PVC, EPDM), peracetic acid at 30% (316SS, Aflas), ethylene glycol at 100% (PVC, EPDM), potassium hydroxide saturated (PVC, EPDM), potassium carbonate at 50% (PVC, EPDM), sodium thiosulfate at 40% (PVC, EPDM), polyaluminum chloride (PVC, EPDM), zinc orthophosphate (PP or 316SS, EPDM), and sodium bisulfate and sodium bisulfite (PVC/PP, EPDM). Lower-SG chemistry the tank also handles includes acetic acid at 60% (PP or PVC, EPDM), aluminum sulfate at 50% (PVC, EPDM), calcium chloride at 40% (PVC, EPDM), magnesium chloride at 30% (PVC, EPDM), sodium carbonate at 30% (PVC, EPDM), ferrous sulfate at 20% (PVC, EPDM), DEF at 32.5% (316SS, EPDM), urea solution at 50% (PP or PVC, EPDM), propylene glycol (PP or 316SS, EPDM), and ozonated water up to 10 PPM (PVC, EPDM). Match the fitting and gasket materials to your chemical using the full Chemical Compatibility Database.

The mistake to avoid

The costly error on a cone bottom chem tank is pairing the wrong fittings and gaskets to a compatible resin. The HDLPE shell may accept your chemical while a stock EPDM gasket or PVC fitting fails on the same duty; sulfuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric, hydrofluoric, and hypochlorite service all call for Viton gaskets, and peracetic acid needs Aflas with 316SS. Confirm the manway, outlet, and any bulkhead hardware match the chart for your exact concentration and temperature before you fill.
