The Snyder Industries 150 Gallon Heavy Duty Cone Bottom Mixing Tank is a 48-inch-tall, 36-inch-diameter cone tank molded in Natural White High Density Linear Polyethylene (HDLPE) and rated to a 1.9 specific gravity. That 1.9 SG rating is the reason to choose this model over a lighter-duty cone: it covers dense chemicals up to roughly 15.8 lb per gallon, where a standard 1.5-SG cone tank tops out. Filled with plain water this 150 gallon tank carries about 1,251 lb; at its full 1.9 SG rating it is engineered to hold up to 2,377 lb of contents, so the supporting stand and floor have to be sized for the heavier number, not the water number. The cone-bottom geometry is built for mixing and full-drain batching of dense liquids - duty a standard flat-bottom vertical tank is not designed to handle.

Will it work for your application

The footprint is 36.0 x 36.0 inches, and the top carries two separate openings doing two jobs. The 20-inch PE threaded/vented lid handles fill and venting, while a separate manway with 17-inch access is sized for agitator mounting, dry-product charging, and interior cleanout. Because the bottom is a cone rather than a flat floor, it drains completely - the right choice when you are blending fertilizer, dosing a chemical feed loop, or batching a slurry that must not leave heel in the tank. Pair it with a matched cone-bottom stand; our Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix shows the Snyder stand fitment, and the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help you confirm 150 gallon is the right working volume before you order. Exact fitting locations and elevations are on the technical drawing on this page.

Chemical compatibility

This is an HDLPE tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity. Always match your fitting and gasket materials to the chemical - not to the tank - and verify each selection against the concentration- and temperature-specific data in our Chemical Compatibility Database before you plumb it. Within its SG rating, this tank handles a broad chemical-service range: Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), Aluminum Sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride (40%, PVC, EPDM), DEF (32.5%, 316SS fittings, EPDM), Ethylene Glycol (100%, PVC, EPDM), Ferric Chloride (50%, PVC, EPDM), Ferric Sulfate (60%, PVC, EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate (20%, PVC, EPDM), Hydrochloric Acid (37%, PVC, Viton), Hydrofluoric Acid (48%, PP/PVC, Viton), Hydrofluosilicic Acid (26%, PP/PVC, Viton), Hydrogen Peroxide (50%, PVC, Viton), Magnesium Chloride (30%, PVC, EPDM), Peracetic Acid (30%, 316SS fittings, Aflas), Phosphoric Acid (85%, PVC, Viton), Polyaluminum Chloride (PVC, EPDM), Potassium Carbonate (50%, PVC, EPDM), Potassium Hydroxide (saturated, PVC, EPDM), Propylene Glycol (PP/316SS, EPDM), Sodium Bisulfate (PVC/PP, EPDM), Sodium Bisulfite (PVC/PP, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate (30%, PVC, EPDM), Sodium Hypochlorite (<16.5%, PVC, Viton), Sodium Thiosulfate (40%, PVC, EPDM), Sulfuric Acid (98%, CPVC, Viton), Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM), Zinc Orthophosphate (PP/316SS, EPDM), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM, PVC, EPDM). The non-EPDM exceptions are worth flagging up front: Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Phosphoric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, and Sodium Hypochlorite all call for Viton gaskets (sulfuric on CPVC fittings), DEF and Peracetic Acid run on 316SS fittings, and Peracetic Acid wants an Aflas gasket. Full concentration data and gasket selection live in our Chemical Compatibility Database.

The mistake to avoid

The single most common error on a chemical cone tank is matching the fitting and gasket to the tank instead of to the chemical. The polyethylene shell tolerates a wide range, but the bulkhead fittings and gaskets are the weak point - Sodium Hypochlorite, Sulfuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, and Hydrogen Peroxide all need Viton or CPVC rather than the default EPDM, and DEF and Peracetic Acid need 316SS. Specifying EPDM across the board because "the tank is fine" is how feed lines fail. Confirm every wetted component against the concentration-specific data in our Chemical Compatibility Database before you plumb it. For high-density blends, the fertilizer-blend stratification guide and the tank level gauge selection guide cover mixing protocol and instrumentation; for containment, see the Snyder Captor 110% containment vs UL-142/SPCC comparison.

This cone bottom tank ships LTL freight, palletized and quoted live to your ZIP. Snyder molds it at three locations - Albertville, AL; Lincoln, NE; and Merced, CA - so most of the country sits near a ship point, which means shorter LTL lanes and lower freight. The BigCommerce price is list and does not include freight; get an LTL freight quote to your ZIP in seconds with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 to confirm fittings, stand fitment, and the best ship point for your location.
