Where a 23 inch tank fits
Seventy-five gallons on a 23 inch footprint is the size that replaces a drum without taking more floor than the drum did. It goes in a plant room beside a boiler as a chemical feed or make-up tank, on a wash bay as a rinse water tank, in a well house, in a greenhouse as a nutrient tank, or in the bay of a service truck. It passes through a standard doorway upright. At 50 inches tall the top is at chest height, so a hose fill is easy. Full of water it puts about 630 lb on the base, and a rotationally moulded base bears on everything it touches and nothing else, so it wants a flat, continuous surface: a slab, a solid deck or a full sheet of plywood over joists. Never set it across two bearers with air between them.

- The height. 50 inches plus room above it to get the lid off and a fill hose in. Measure to the lowest shelf, duct or header over the spot, not to the ceiling.
- The surface. Flat, level and continuous under the whole 23 inch base.
