Norwesco Horizontal Tanks
Norwesco horizontal tanks are built for hauling and storing liquids on a truck, trailer or skid. They range from 35 gallons up to 6,025 gallons. Their low, wide shape keeps the weight down near the deck, which makes them steadier on the road than a vertical tank. This category includes standard horizontal leg tanks, elliptical leg tanks and elliptical cradle tanks.
Which style fits your rig
- Horizontal leg tanks sit on molded-in legs, so they rest flat on a truck bed or trailer deck. They're the most common choice for hauling water.
- Elliptical leg tanks have an oval cross-section that sits even lower, for a lower center of gravity on the road.

Colors and ratings
Standard tanks, in white (natural) or black, are rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water and most light liquids. Heavy duty tanks, in light blue and some sizes in black, are rated to 1.9 specific gravity for heavier liquids, such as many fertilizers. Every tank is molded from FDA-compliant polyethylene. Tank bands
Steel bands hold a leg tank down and keep it from shifting in transport. Norwesco lists bands as optional on the smaller tanks (up to 525 gallons) and required on 725 gallons and up. Before you order
- Check your weight. Water weighs about 8.3 lbs per gallon, so a full 1,025 gallon tank carries roughly 8,500 lbs of water. Make sure your truck or trailer is rated for the full load.
- Support the legs. Set the tank on a flat deck or skid that supports every leg.
- Not for fuel. Don't use these tanks for gasoline, diesel or any other fuel.
Questions we get
Do I need bands for my leg tank?
On 725 gallons and up, yes: Norwesco requires them. On smaller tanks they're optional but recommended for hauling.
Can I haul drinking water?
Yes. The tanks are molded from FDA-compliant polyethylene. Check the Certifications line on each tank if you need NSF 61.
Do you have tanks that drain completely?
