50 Gallon Rain Wizard Aspen Eco Rain Barrel in Oak

The 50 gallon Rain Wizard Aspen Eco rain barrel in oak, Bushman part number 600924, collects roof runoff from a downspout for the garden, flower beds and lawn. It is 23 inches wide, 23 inches deep and 37 inches tall, with a woodgrain slat finish with a hammered metal ring texture and a two piece build, so the lid comes off for cleaning.

Fittings and setup

Water comes in through a fine poly mesh screen on top that keeps out leaves, insects and small animals. The barrel has a 3/4 inch female fitting low on the barrel with a 3/4 inch brass spigot for a garden hose or a bucket. There is no upper fitting. The barrel also comes with a 3/4 inch NPT plug, and it has two flat spots for the optional Rain Barrel Downspout Diverter Kit, part 600925. The barrels nest inside each other, which keeps freight down on bulk orders such as municipal rain barrel programs. In the box: the barrel, the brass spigot, the 3/4 inch plug, plumber's tape and instructions.

Where it goes

Full, the barrel holds about 417 lb of water, so set it on firm, level ground, pavers or a stand, never on soft soil that can settle and tip it. Raising it a foot or so gives more pressure at the spigot and room for a watering can. Drain it and leave the spigot open before freezing weather. Rain barrels store water for outdoor use only; do not drink it.
