Norwesco 600 Gallon Underground Water Storage Cistern Tank

Where this tank goes

A cistern goes in the ground when you want the water out of sight, out of the sun and out of the way: rainwater collection off a roof, a reserve for a low yielding well, irrigation water, or a hauled water supply for a cabin or a site office. Underground, the water stays cool and dark, which keeps algae down without a black tank. Six hundred gallons suits a garden, a small roof catchment or a buffer between a slow well and a pressure pump; for a whole house supply or a fire reserve, go up a size or set two tanks side by side. Burial depth, bedding and backfill follow Norwesco's installation instructions for this tank; ask us for them before you dig, and keep vehicles off the ground above the tank unless those instructions say otherwise. Openings, risers and fittings

1. Manway. A 20 inch manway cover on top. It is the access for the pump, the float and inspection, and the riser mounts here.
2. Risers and extensions. Norwesco offers these for the one manhole, one per tank: N-63832 6 inch extension, N-63833 15 inch extension, N-63834 24 inch extension, N-63831 23 inch riser with a 12 inch lid, N-63830 36 inch riser with a 6 inch lid. Measure from the top of the tank to finished grade and tell us the number; we put the riser on the same order so the opening finishes at grade on the first try.
3. Inlet and outlet. Norwesco lists no factory inlet or outlet fitting on this tank. Tell us the pipe sizes for the inlet, the overflow and the pump line when you order and we will confirm what the wall takes. Dry fit every bulkhead fitting before tightening; a fitting below grade is a fitting you do not want to dig up.

At the tailgate, check the part number against 41328 on the bill of lading and look the whole shell over for transit damage, because a crack found after backfill is a second excavation.
