An 8 inch vented lid for Norwesco tanks
Part number 63480 is Norwesco's 8 inch lid with a blue snap-in vent, moulded in black polypropylene. It closes the 8 inch opening on the top of a tank and lets air in and out through the vent as the level changes, so the tank neither bulges on fill nor pulls in on draw-down. The lid is 8 inches across and 4 inches tall and weighs 3 lb. Black keeps light off the contents, which slows algae in stored water. It is the kind of part that goes missing in a yard, so it is worth having a spare on the shelf for every tank that uses it.

What to check before you buy
- The opening. 8 inch. Measure across the opening on your tank or read the lid size on your tank's page. A lid is one of the few parts where close is not good enough; an 8 inch lid on a larger opening sits in the hole rather than on it.
- Vented or not. This lid is vented. A tank that is filled and emptied needs a vent somewhere, and on most small storage tanks the lid is where it lives. If your tank vents through a separate fitting and the contents must stay sealed, you want a non-vented lid instead.
- The vent itself. The blue vent snaps into the lid. If the vent is lost or damaged and the lid is sound, tell us and we will point you to the vent alone.

Fitting it
Clean the tank opening before the new lid goes on; grit on the seat is the usual reason a lid will not sit square. Hand tight is the rule for a plastic lid. Check the vent is clear each time you open the tank, because a blocked vent on a tank being pumped out does more damage than a missing lid.
