A 1.5 inch CPVC double flanged fitting with a Viton gasket and stainless encapsulated bolts
Part number 34700436 is Snyder's 1.5 inch double flanged fitting in CPVC, with a Viton gasket and stainless steel bolts that are encapsulated, meaning the metal is sheathed in plastic so the liquid never touches it. A double flanged fitting clamps the tank wall between two flanges drawn together by bolts, instead of relying on a single nut the way a threaded bulkhead does. That makes it the port for the harder jobs: a thicker or curved wall, a liquid that attacks ordinary materials, or a connection you want to seal evenly from both sides. The assembly is about 5 inches across and weighs 2 lb. CPVC takes more heat than plain PVC, and Viton is the gasket chosen when EPDM is not enough for the liquid.

What to check before you buy
- The size. 1.5 inch. Match it to the valve, pipe or hose on the outside.
- The liquid. CPVC body, Viton gasket, encapsulated bolts: three wetted materials, all chosen for liquids and temperatures that plain PVC and EPDM do not like. Check your liquid against each, and tell us the concentration and temperature.
- The wall. Both flanges need a flat area of wall to bear on so the gasket seals all the way round. Snyder's drawing, linked on this page under Technical Drawing, gives the flange size and the hole the wall needs.
- Access from inside. A double flanged fitting is tightened from both sides, so you need a hand or a tool on the inside flange. On a tank with a small manway, check reach before you drill.
Installing it
Dry-fit first and turn the fitting so the outside connection points where the pipe will run. Draw the bolts up a little at a time in a cross pattern, the way you would a wheel, so the gasket is squeezed evenly rather than pinched on one side. Stop when the gasket is seated; a plastic flange cracked by over-tightening is the usual failure. Support the first length of pipe on its own so the wall carries liquid, not hardware. Fill with water the first time and check the flange for a weep before the real liquid goes in.
