A 1 inch PVC flange adapter for joining pipe to a flanged tank fitting
Part number 34700867 is Snyder's 1 inch PVC flange adapter. A flange adapter is the piece between a flanged connection on the tank and the pipe that runs away from it: one side mates to the flange, the other side takes your 1 inch pipe. You use one where the tank fitting ends in a flange rather than a thread. This adapter is PVC, about 6 inches across and 14 inches long as it ships, and weighs 5 lb. The 1 inch size has to agree with both the flanged fitting on the tank and the pipe you are connecting, so confirm all three before you order.

What to check before you buy
- The size. 1 inch on both sides. The flange on the tank and the pipe in your hand both have to be 1 inch.
- The flange it meets. Snyder's drawing, linked on this page under Technical Drawing, shows the adapter's dimensions. Compare them with the drawing of the fitting on your tank, or send us both part numbers and we do it.
- The liquid. PVC handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals. For anything warm or aggressive, check the liquid against PVC before you order; a CPVC fitting on the tank is a hint that PVC downstream may not be the right choice.
- The gasket between the flanges. This listing is the adapter. Confirm with us what seals the joint between the adapter and the fitting it mates with before the parts are on site.
Installing it
Dry-fit the adapter to the tank flange and the pipe before any glue or final tightening, and turn it so the pipe leaves in the right direction. Draw flange bolts up a little at a time in a cross pattern so the seal is squeezed evenly rather than pinched on one side. Support the pipe on its own within a foot or so of the adapter so the tank fitting carries liquid, not the weight of a valve and a run of pipe. Fill with water the first time and check the joint for a weep before the working liquid goes in.
