A 14 inch vented, hinged manway lid with a lock, for Snyder tanks
Part number 34700558 is Snyder's 14 inch polypropylene manway in black, the vented, hinged version with a lock. A manway is the big lid on top of a tank: wide enough to fill from a hose, to drop a float or a suction line in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. This one fits the 14 inch neck Snyder moulds into many of its vertical tanks, and it does three jobs the plain lid does not. It vents, so the tank breathes through the lid as it fills and drains. It is hinged, so the lid cannot be set down in the dirt or lost. And it locks, so a tank in a yard cannot be opened by whoever walks past. The lid is 15.4 inches across and 12.6 inches tall, weighs 8 lb, and ships by UPS from Snyder's Lincoln, Nebraska plant.

What to check before you buy
- The neck. 14 inch. Measure across the tank's neck, not the old lid. Tell us the tank part number and we confirm the match with Snyder before it ships, because the hinged base and the plain threaded lid mount differently.
- Venting. Vented. If this is the tank's only vent, keep it clear and do not seal it. If the tank must not breathe through the lid, Snyder's non-vented 14 inch manway is the other option.
- The lock. The lid takes a lock; confirm with us whether the lock ships with it or you supply your own padlock.
- The liquid. Polypropylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals. For anything aggressive, check the liquid against the material before you order.

Fitting it
Clean the neck and the lid seat before the first fit; grit between them is the usual cause of a lid that will not seat. Mount the base so the lid swings open away from the side you work from, and check the hinge clears anything on top of the tank. Fill with water the first time and watch the vent as the tank fills and drains.
