A 3/4 inch polypropylene threaded bulkhead fitting with an EPDM gasket, for Snyder tanks
Part number 34100048 is Snyder's 3/4 inch threaded bulkhead fitting, moulded in polypropylene and supplied with an EPDM gasket. A bulkhead fitting is how a plain tank wall becomes a connection: the body passes through a hole in the wall, the gasket seals it from the inside, and the threaded end outside takes your valve, hose barb or pipe. At 3/4 inch this is the small end of the range, the size you choose for a sample port, a sight tube tap, a chemical feed line or a small drain, not for emptying a big tank in a hurry. It is a 2 lb part that ships in a small carton by UPS.

What to check before you buy
- The size. 3/4 inch. Everything downstream, the valve, the pipe, the hose, has to match it, so settle the size first and buy the rest to suit.
- The body and the gasket. Polypropylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals; EPDM is the gasket Snyder pairs with it here. Check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide against both before you order, and ask us if it is not listed.
- The wall. The fitting needs a flat area of tank wall at least as wide as its flange so the gasket seals all the way round. Snyder's drawing, linked on this page under Technical Drawing, shows the flange and the hole the wall needs.
- Flow. A 3/4 inch port fills and drains slowly. If this is the tank's main outlet, size up; if it is a feed or sample point, this is the right part.
Installing it
Dry-fit first. Set the fitting in the hole, turn it so the outside thread points where the pipe will run, then tighten the nut by hand plus a quarter turn with a wrench. Over-tightening distorts the gasket and is the usual cause of a weep. Support the first length of pipe or the valve on its own so the tank wall carries liquid, not hardware. Keep a spare gasket on the shelf; it is the part that fails on a holiday.
