A 3 inch PVC U-vent assembly for the Snyder NexGen D2 cistern
Snyder part number 34701333 (our SKU SII-34701333) is a 3 inch cistern U-vent assembly in PVC, named by Snyder for its NexGen D2 tank. The assembly is about 6 inches long, 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall, and it weighs 4 lb. A U-vent rises from the top of the tank, turns over through a half bend and points its open end at the ground, so the tank can breathe while rain, snow and runoff fall past the opening instead of into it. No screen, thread form, pressure rating or fit list for other tanks comes with this part, so if your cistern is not a NexGen D2, tell us the model and the opening before you order.

Why a buried cistern needs a vent
Every time a cistern fills, the air inside has to go somewhere, and every time a pump draws it down, air has to come back in. On an underground rainwater tank the vent is often the only opening above grade, so it is also the one place surface water and leaves can reach the stored water. The turned-down end is the guard. Set it above the finished grade and above any water that pools after a storm, and keep mulch, snow piles and mowers clear of it.

- The tank. The name ties this assembly to the NexGen D2. On any other cistern, confirm with us that the vent opening is 3 inch before you order.
- The material. PVC is rigid. It does not flex to take up a misaligned riser, so line the pipe up straight before you glue or tighten anything.
