What to check before you buy

1. The tank diameter. 42 inches. It is on the tank's own page. A stand sized for a 42 inch tank carries a 42 inch tank; a wider or narrower tank needs its own stand.
2. The clearance. 18 inches. Measure the outlet fitting, the valve and whatever has to sit under it before you decide between this stand and the lower version.
3. The total height. The stand is 18 inches tall. Add the tank height from its page and check the lid height against your ceiling, your fill point and the ladder you will use.
4. The floor. A flat, level, continuous 42 inch square with no drain, slope or slab joint under any leg.
5. Anchoring. No anchor hardware is listed with the stand. If the site or the inspector wants it bolted down, that hardware and the pad design are yours.

Setting it up

Place the stand where it will live and level it across both diagonals before the tank goes on. Set the empty tank, turn it so the outlet points toward the pipe run, and fit the valve before the first fill. Fill with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless in the tank. Support the first length of pipe leaving the valve on its own; the outlet should carry liquid, not the weight of a valve and a hose. A full 42 inch tank on a stand is a concentrated load; the floor rating comes from the tank's documentation and your installer.
