Why crosslinked

Crosslinked polyethylene is polyethylene whose molecules are bonded to each other during moulding, so the wall cannot be melted and re-welded the way ordinary polyethylene can. Buyers choose it for chemical storage where the wall has to stand up to the liquid over many years, and XLPE is widely used for bulk treatment and industrial chemicals. One practical consequence: fittings on an XLPE tank are bolted or bulkhead types, never welded on, so get the fitting plan right before the order.
