A 2 inch heavy duty bulkhead fitting, installed at the Norwesco plant
Part number 63683 is Norwesco's 2 inch heavy duty bulkhead fitting in polyethylene, sold here as the factory installed version. A bulkhead fitting is the port that turns a plain tank wall into a connection: the body passes through a hole in the wall, a gasket seals it from the inside, and the threaded end outside takes your valve, hose barb or pipe. Heavy duty is Norwesco's heavier bodied 2 inch fitting, the one for an outlet that carries a valve and a hose on a tank that moves. Factory installed means Norwesco cuts the hole and sets the fitting before the tank leaves the plant. The fitting is about 4 inches across and weighs a pound.

What to check before you buy
- The tank. This is the installed version, so it goes with a new Norwesco tank on the same order. Tell us the tank part number and the position you want, and we confirm it before the order goes to the plant.
- The size. 2 inch. Match it to the valve, camlock or pipe you plan to hang on it; 2 inch is the common size for gravity drains and transfer pumps.
- Heavy duty or standard. Norwesco also installs a standard duty 2 inch fitting. Choose heavy duty for a transport tank or rough handling; standard is enough for a stationary water tank.
- The liquid. Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals. For anything aggressive, check the liquid against the material before you order.

After it arrives
The fitting comes already tightened in the wall, so your work is on the outside. Thread the valve in by hand with a sealant that suits the liquid, turn it so the handle is reachable with the tank in place, and support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware. Fill with water the first time and check the joint inside and out. Keep a spare gasket on the shelf.
