What to check before you buy

1. The size. 6 inch. The valve and pipe behind a port this size are heavy; plan the whole run around it. Our fitting and outlet sizing decision tree walks through the choice from 1 inch up to 6 inch.
2. The liquid against every wetted part. CPVC body, Viton gasket and the encapsulation on the bolts all meet the liquid. Check the liquid against each; tell us what goes in the tank and we confirm the combination with Snyder.
3. The wall. A double flanged fitting clamps a flange on each side of the wall and needs a flat area at least as wide as the flange, about 10.91 inches here. Tell us the tank model and we check.
4. Factory installation. Buying the tank at the same time? Ask us to have the fitting installed at the Snyder plant. A 6 inch hole and a bolted flange are not a tailgate job.

Installing it

Dry-fit the two flanges before the gasket goes in, turn the outside flange so the thread points where the pipe will run, and tighten the bolts evenly in a cross pattern so the Viton gasket is compressed flat instead of pinched on one side. Stop when the gasket is seated; crushing it is the usual cause of a weep that shows up later. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own. Fill with water the first time and look at the joint from inside and out before any chemical goes in.
