Why the tall one
Buy this tank when the floor is the constraint and the ceiling is not. A 23 inch circle fits between two machine bases, beside a boiler, in a closet, inside a bunded tray made for a drum, or in the corner of a van or service body, and 63 inches of height is what turns that drum footprint into 100 gallons. It passes through a standard doorway upright. Check the height before the floor: 63 inches plus room above it to get the lid off and a hose in, measured to the lowest duct, shelf or header over the spot. Full of water it puts about 830 lb on the base. A rotationally moulded base bears on everything it touches and nothing else, so it wants a flat, continuous, level surface under the whole circle. A tall slim tank also wants a level floor more than a squat one does; a slab that falls toward a drain leans the tank toward the drain, and at 63 inches that lean shows.
What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer, wash water and the treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. The FDA compliant resin suits potable water where the installation allows it. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Thread a 1-1/4 inch valve straight in. Dry-fit it so the handle swings clear of the wall, then seal the threads, and support the first length of pipe on its own.
- Top opening. Norwesco vertical tanks of this size carry a threaded vented lid on top; call us with the part number if the lid diameter matters for a float or a fill fitting you already own. Never pump out of the tank with the top sealed.
