This is a tank for a high bay, a treatment building with the services run along the wall, a greenhouse head house with a tall frame, or a storage corner in a plant where the floor is already spoken for by skids and controls. A column this slender must be strapped to a wall, a rack or a frame before the first fill, with the band checked again after the tank has been full once, and the fill should be a line brought down to working height rather than anything carried up to the lid. The base must be flat, continuous and level out to the full edge of the tank, with no hollow in the middle and nothing packed under one side. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one. Keep hot process liquids out of it unless we have confirmed the temperature limit for your duty. - The outlet and lid. Norwesco's figures for this tank do not spell out the outlet fitting and lid size the way they do for the rest of the 250 gallon family. Tell us the valve or hose you are connecting and we will confirm the outlet and the lid against the drawing before the tank ships, and quote any fitting you want factory installed.
- The height. Eighty-six inches, plus a hand's room above the lid. Check the route in as well as the spot: a tank this tall goes through a door on its side and is stood up inside.
- The strap. Plan the wall band or frame before the tank arrives, not after. A full column on a 31 inch base is a concentrated load and should never rely on its pipework to stay upright.
