250 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank

Where a tank this tall belongs

Eighty-nine inches is over seven feet, so this is a tank for a high bay, a stairwell corner, a greenhouse head house with a tall frame, or a treatment room with the ductwork run elsewhere. Measure the lowest obstruction above the spot and add a hand's room for the lid before you order; the door is rarely the problem on a 30 inch tank, the ceiling is. A column this slender must be strapped to a wall, a rack or a frame before the first fill, with the band pulled tight again after the tank has been full once and settled, and the fill should be a line brought down to working height rather than anything poured over the top. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need the heavy duty tank in this family rather than this one. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: a fill hose, a float switch and a hand with a brush go through it. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
