A 2800 gallon black vertical water tank for bulk storage on a pad
The Chem-Tainer 2800 gallon vertical water storage tank in black, part number TC9598IW-BLACK, is a polyethylene tank with a 95 by 95 inch footprint standing 98 inches tall, weighing 1680 lb empty. It is a stationary tank for a pad: rural household supply, hauled water, rain and reuse collection, irrigation reserve, process make-up and fire reserve. It comes with a 16 inch lid on top, a 1.5 inch inlet and a 2 inch outlet. Chem-Tainer rates it for water weight liquids, specific gravity 1.0, and states the resin is FDA compliant. Black keeps light out of the stored water, which stops algae in a tank that sits in the sun and is the usual choice for drinking and stock water.

Where it goes
Full, 2800 gallons of water weighs a little under twelve tons, all of it on a 95 inch circle. The pad is the whole job. The tank needs a flat, level, continuous base with nothing under it that can settle on one side: a concrete pad is the normal answer, and compacted gravel in a frame works where the ground is good. A pad that looked fine with the tank empty tilts under twelve tons, and a tilted tank loads its fittings sideways. Openings and fittings
- Lid. A 16 inch lid on top: wide enough to fill from a hose, drop a float in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean.
- Inlet. 1.5 inch. Suits a well pump line, a hauled water fill or a diverter outlet. Fit an overflow at least as big as the inlet so a tank that is filled unattended sheds water away from the pad.
- Outlet. 2 inch, low on the wall. Your valve, pump suction or hose adapter connects there; support the first length of pipe on its own so the fitting carries water, not hardware. Tell us if you need a second outlet or a different size, because a fitting added at the plant before it ships is cheaper than one cut in on site.

What goes in it
Water. The tank is rated for liquids no heavier than water, so it is not the tank for fertilizer, brine or chemicals; if that is the job, tell us the liquid and we will point you at a tank with the rating for it. Drinking water, stock water, rain and grey water, irrigation reserve and fire reserve are all within the rating. Where it freezes, the tank itself tolerates ice on top, but a full pipe and valve below it split; drain or heat trace the outlet run in winter.
Shipping and receiving
The tank ships LTL as one piece, 95 by 95 by 98 inches and 1680 lb. It will not fit a parcel truck and it needs equipment or a liftgate and several people at the receiving end, so the freight cost estimator asks whether the address has a dock. The listed price is before freight. At the tailgate, check the part number against TC9598IW-BLACK on the bill of lading, walk around the base and the lid thread for transit damage, and roll it onto the pad before the driver leaves if you can. Fit the outlet valve, fill it with water the first time, and watch the fittings and the pad edge for the first few hours; a settlement shows early or not at all.
