The Bushman 420 Gallon Vertical Water Storage Tank in dark brown is a straight-wall polyethylene vertical tank built for above-ground bulk water storage — rainwater capture, hauled-water and cistern service, fire-reserve and irrigation supply. It stands 64 inches tall on a 47 x 47 inch footprint, so it fits through standard gate widths and seats on a compact pad while still holding a full 420 gallons.
Will it work for your site?
The tank measures 64 in high and 47 in across, on a 47 x 47 in footprint, with dimensions verified at launch. Plan the pad and the plumbing around a filled weight: 420 gallons of water runs about 3,503 lbs when the tank is topped off, which works out to roughly 230 lb per square foot spread over that ~15.3 sq ft base — a real number to hand your pad design. The technical drawing on this page shows the fitting layout: a vented manway up top plus a single 2" bulkhead fitting for your supply or draw line. That single bulkhead is your one plumbed penetration; any additional outlet is a field add. The vented manway matters — it lets the tank breathe as you fill and draw so you never pull a vacuum or pressurize the shell. If you are matching this tank to a daily-demand or reserve target, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit.
Pad and install
A vertical poly tank this size needs continuous, level support under the entire base — no point loads, no gap under the floor. Our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks the ACI 360R-10 framework for getting that base right under the ~230 lb/ft² load, and the hydrostatic test methodology covers the water-fill acceptance check and fitting leak-detection you should run before the tank goes into service. If this is going into a rural fire-reserve or a water-reuse train, the fire-water reservoir design guide and the industrial water reuse topology guide put this size class in context.
The mistake to avoid
This is a water storage tank. Do not put it into chemical service on the strength of the shell alone — a dark-brown vertical water tank like this is built for water, and running a heavier-than-water or aggressive chemical through it without confirming the resin and a matched specific-gravity rating is how tanks fail early. Remember your fluid contacts the fittings too: water-service integrity here is delivered through the 2" bulkhead gasket and the vented manway, not the shell alone, so torque the bulkhead correctly against its gasket and keep the vented manway clear so the tank breathes. If your application is anything other than water, call us first and we will match you to a tank rated for that fluid.
