A 6 inch vented threaded lid for a small tank opening
SII-34300047 is Snyder's 6 inch vented threaded tank lid, moulded in high density linear polyethylene. It closes a 6 inch threaded opening and lets the tank breathe through its vent, and it ships in a package 6 by 6 by 2 inches. A 6 inch opening is the small port on a tank: the fill opening on a small tank, or a second access point on a larger one, used for a fill pipe, a level float, a dip stick or a quick look inside. This is the lid you order when the original has cracked, gone chalky in the sun, or been lost.

Why a vented lid on a small opening
A tank has to move air in and out as the liquid level changes. Fill it and air must escape; draw it down and air must come in; let it sit in the sun and it breathes out by day and in by night. On a small tank, or on a tank where the main manway seals tight, a vented lid on a 6 inch opening gives that air a path, so the tank does not push liquid out of a fitting under pressure or pull its walls in under vacuum. A small vented lid is fine for normal breathing with water and most stored liquids. If you pump in or out fast, or the liquid gives off fumes, ask us about a dedicated vent sized to the flow.
High density linear polyethylene is the same family of material most poly tanks are made from. It handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals; if your tank holds something aggressive, check it in our chemical compatibility guide before you rely on the lid.
What to check before you buy
- Measure the opening, not the lid. This lid is 6 inch. Measure the threaded neck on the tank.
- Match the thread. Lid threads are not standard across makers, and an old lid from another brand is not a safe guide. Give us the tank make and part number and we will confirm with Snyder that SII-34300047 is the right one.
- Vented is what you want? If the opening has to stay sealed, for example on a tank that vents elsewhere, ask us for a non-vented lid instead.
- How many. If your tank has more than one small port, count them and replace the set; old lids tend to fail together.
Shipping and installing

If you are buying it with a tank or other parts, put them on one order so they travel together. To fit it, wipe the threads on the tank neck clean, start the lid by hand so it cannot cross-thread, and turn it down firm by hand. A wrench is not needed and can crack the lid. Check that the vent is open before you fill the tank.
