An 8 inch vented threaded lid for a tank's fill or access port
SII-34300216 is Snyder's 8 inch vented threaded tank lid, moulded in high density linear polyethylene and shipped in a package 8 by 8 by 2 inches. An 8 inch opening is a mid-size port: the main opening on a small tank, or a fill and inspection port on a larger one. It is big enough to pour into without a funnel, to take a hose nozzle or a fill pipe, and to drop in a float switch, and small enough to stay out of the way on a tank top. This lid closes it against rain, debris and light while the vent lets the tank breathe.

Why vented, and when to replace it
The level in a tank goes up and down, and the air above the liquid has to move with it. A vented lid lets air out while you fill and back in while you draw, so filling does not push liquid out through a fitting and draining does not pull a vacuum on the tank walls. It also lets the tank breathe as it heats in the sun and cools at night. For normal fill and draw rates with water and most stored liquids, a lid vent covers it; for fast pumping or fuming liquids, ask us about a separate vent sized to the flow.
Replace the lid when the plastic has cracked or gone chalky, when the threads are worn and the lid backs off on its own, when the vent is broken or plugged, or when the lid has gone missing. On a water tank, an open port is an open door for insects, leaves and small animals. On a sprayer or a farm tank, it is a place for liquid to slosh out on the road. A new lid costs far less than either problem.
What to check before you buy
- Size. This lid is 8 inch. Measure the threaded neck on the tank, not the old lid.
- Thread match. Threads are not common across makers. Tell us the tank make and part number and we will confirm with Snyder that SII-34300216 suits it.
- Material. High density linear polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals. Check anything stronger in our chemical compatibility guide.
- Vented or sealed. This one is vented. If the port must stay sealed and the tank vents elsewhere, ask us for a non-vented lid.
