The Bushman 100 Gallon Black Vertical Water Storage Tank is a compact vertical water tank molded from polyethylene and rated at a 1.0 specific gravity for water and water-based contents. It stands 47 inches tall on a 26 x 26 inch footprint, so it fits tight utility rooms, equipment sheds, trailers, and rural pump houses where floor space is scarce but you still need real reserve capacity. The black exterior blocks light to slow algae growth, making it a practical choice for rainwater harvesting and general 100 gallon water storage tank duty.

Will it work for your setup?

At 100 gallons, a full tank of water weighs roughly 834 pounds, which is also the maximum rated contents weight at 1.0 specific gravity. Plan your base around that number: this vertical storage tank needs a flat, fully supported, level surface that carries the loaded weight across the entire 26 x 26 inch footprint. Because it is rated to 1.0 SG, keep it to water and water-based fluids no denser than water. If you are sizing a reserve for a pump, an irrigation line, or a fill schedule, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit.

Fittings and openings

Per the technical drawing on this page, top access is a 12-inch threaded manway opening for fill and cleanout, or a 5-inch threaded cap, with an optional 1-inch NPT bulkhead fitting for outlet plumbing. That manway-or-cap choice and the bulkhead location should be confirmed against the technical drawing shown here before you order valves or adapters. The 1-inch NPT bulkhead is your outlet point, so match its gasket and seal to your plumbing run and make sure both are compatible with your water-based service temperature. For rainwater setups, our guide on Bushman rainwater harvesting and first-flush diverter sizing walks through inlet and diverter configuration.

The mistake to avoid

The common error on a vertical water storage tank this size is setting it on an unlevel or partially supported base. A tank holding more than 800 pounds of water concentrates load on its bottom, so any gap, gravel high spot, or unsupported edge becomes a stress point. Set it on a solid, level pad sized to the full 26 x 26 inch footprint. If you are engineering a permanent above-ground install, our note on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks covers the framework, and cold-climate or fire-reserve users should review the rural fire-water reservoir design and freeze-protection guide.

This tank ships LTL freight from the plant in Brigham City, UT, with cost quoted live to your ZIP. Get an exact number with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 and we will confirm the fittings against the drawing, size the tank, and lock in your freight quote.
