The Chem-Tainer 2500 Gallon Vertical Storage Tank is a 2,500-gallon polyethylene vertical tank molded in natural white, giving you real bulk-water capacity for irrigation, rainwater collection, fire-water reserve, process water, and industrial water reuse without the height of a taller, narrower tank. It stands 89 inches tall on a roughly 95-inch-diameter round footprint, so it holds a lot of volume at a manageable height. The 1.5 specific gravity rating is the heavy-duty structural build - the top tier for this size - meaning the tank body is engineered to hold contents up to 1.5 times the density of water.

Will it work for your site?

Plan around weight, not just gallons. Filled with plain water this vertical storage tank carries roughly 20,850 pounds; at its full 1.5 specific gravity rating the contents can reach about 31,275 pounds. Size your pad and foundation for that 31,275-pound loaded worst case, not the 20,850-pound water number, so the slab is specced to the tank's rated capability rather than to water alone. That load rides on a roughly 95-inch round base, so the pad underneath matters as much as the tank itself - it needs to be level and continuously supported. Our concrete pad sizing guide walks through the ACI framework for a slab under an above-ground polyethylene tank. If you are still weighing capacities, the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help you match tank volume to your actual draw.

The mistake to avoid

Do not confuse the 1.5 specific gravity rating with a chemical clearance. That rating tells you the tank can structurally hold a heavier-than-water liquid; it does not by itself qualify the tank for any specific chemical. This listing is for water duty - irrigation, rainwater, fire-water reserve, and reuse - and for that service this is exactly the tank you want. It is already the heavy-rated 1.5 SG build, the top structural tier for this 2,500-gallon size; if you only store plain water, a standard 1.0 or 1.1 SG tank would cost less, so the heavy rating is worth paying for only when your contents are denser than water. Before you put anything other than water in it, the resin and the gasket and fitting elastomers must be checked against the OEM chemical-resistance chart - we do not publish chemical-clearance data for this SKU, so it should not be sold for chemical duty off this water listing.

Fittings and configuration

We do not publish a per-fitting layout for this tank - outlet size and location are configured on the OEM order, so confirm your bulkhead, outlet, and vent placement on the manufacturer's specification before delivery to make sure your plumbing lines up. Reference the technical drawing on this page for the tank's overall geometry as you plan the tie-in.

This tank ships LTL freight, quoted live to your ZIP, from the nearest Chem-Tainer plant - either Chowchilla, CA or Griffin, GA - so a West Coast or Southeast delivery keeps your freight leg short.
