Chemical compatibility

One caveat to name plainly: the compatibility data here comes from the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart, which is a cross-manufacturer reference — this is a Chemtainer tank, so confirm your chemical against Chemtainer's own chart or by phone before service. The tank resin is listed as HDLPE with a question mark, so also confirm whether you need HDLPE or XLPE (cross-linked) construction. Compatibility is concentration- and temperature-specific; verify your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting and gasket materials.
At the 1.5 SG rating this tank handles acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water up to 10 PPM. Most of these call for PVC or PP fittings with EPDM gaskets; DEF and peracetic acid are the two that specify 316SS fittings. Several common chemicals need a heavier tank than this one. Sodium hypochlorite, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, ferric chloride, phosphoric acid, and ethylene glycol all require a higher 1.9 specific gravity tank, not this 1.5 SG shell. Those higher-SG chemicals also generally need Viton gaskets rather than the EPDM used across the 1.5 SG list — and 98% sulfuric acid calls for a CPVC fitting, not PVC.
