Match the fittings and gaskets to the chemical
The most common and most expensive mistake on a chemical haul tank is bolting on the wrong fitting or gasket. The polyethylene wall is only half the system. Most of the brines and carbonates here run PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets, but the exceptions are where loads go wrong. Viton gaskets are required for hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrofluosilicic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hypochlorite; peracetic acid is the one chemical here that needs Aflas, not Viton. Watch the metallurgy too: DEF (32.5%) and peracetic acid call for 316 stainless fittings, and propylene glycol and zinc orthophosphate run PP/316 stainless, not PVC, so ordering PVC plumbing for a DEF haul would be the wrong material.
