The Enduraplas 550 Gallon Black Cone Bottom Tank with Stand (SKU THC00550KB) is a full-drain vessel built for processes where you need the tank to empty completely - batching, settling, chemical dosing, and dewatering. The cone-bottom geometry drives every drop toward the 3" PP female NPT bulkhead outlet, and the included stand holds the cone off the ground so you can plumb the drain and pull clean batches. At 60" diameter and 69" tall on a 60"-dia footprint, this black polyethylene cone bottom tank carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, empties fully through the bottom, and loads through a 16" threaded vented manway up top.

Will it work for your application

The empty tank weighs 150 lb. Filled with water it carries roughly 4,587 lb; at its full 1.9 SG rating the contents can reach about 8,715 lb, so the stand and the slab underneath it have to be sized for the heavier of those two numbers - not the water figure. That 1.9 SG rating is why this tank suits dense chemical service rather than plain water storage: it is engineered to hold liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water. The polyethylene is FDA approved. The 3" bottom outlet and 16" vented manway are standard on this unit; confirm your pump and fill lines match those before you order. The included poly stand is the correct match for this cone - if you are weighing steel frame versus polyethylene, our stand selection decision tree and stand compatibility matrix walk through the tradeoffs, and the 550 gallon cone bottom buyer's guide covers sizing end to end. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to check that 550 usable gallons fits your batch.

Chemical compatibility

This tank carries a 1.9 SG rating in polyethylene. Its resin is listed as HDLPE but not fully confirmed - confirm HDLPE versus XLPE with us before committing it to chemical service, since that distinction affects which chemicals hold up. Compatibility below is drawn from the Snyder Industries OEM chemical-resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific; verify your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting plus gasket materials before ordering. Chemicals this 1.9 SG tank can handle include Hydrochloric Acid (37%, PVC fitting, Viton gasket), Sulfuric Acid (98%, CPVC, Viton), Phosphoric Acid (85%, PVC, Viton), Hydrofluoric Acid (48%, PP/PVC, Viton), Hydrofluosilicic Acid (26%, PP/PVC, Viton), Hydrogen Peroxide (50%, PVC, Viton), Sodium Hypochlorite (<16.5%, PVC, Viton), Ferric Chloride (50%, PVC, EPDM), Ferric Sulfate (60%, PVC, EPDM), Ethylene Glycol (100%, PVC, EPDM), Potassium Hydroxide (saturated, PVC, EPDM), Potassium Carbonate (50%, PVC, EPDM), Peracetic Acid (30%, 316SS, Aflas), Sodium Thiosulfate (40%, PVC, EPDM), Polyaluminum Chloride (PVC, EPDM), Sodium Bisulfite (PVC/PP, EPDM), Sodium Bisulfate (PVC/PP, EPDM), Zinc Orthophosphate (PP/316SS, EPDM), Propylene Glycol (PP/316SS, EPDM), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM, PVC, EPDM). Lower-SG chemicals this tank also covers include DEF (32.5%, 316SS, EPDM), Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM), Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride (40%, PVC, EPDM), Magnesium Chloride (30%, PVC, EPDM), Aluminum Sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate (30%, PVC, EPDM), and Ferrous Sulfate (20%, PVC, EPDM). One caution on hardware: this tank ships with a PP bulkhead outlet, and several of the entries above call for a different fitting material - DEF and peracetic acid want 316SS, 98% sulfuric acid wants CPVC, and zinc orthophosphate and propylene glycol list PP/316SS - so for those services plan on a compatible outlet fitting rather than the stock PP one. Match the fitting and gasket materials shown against the full Chemical Compatibility Database for your service temperature.

The mistake to avoid

The most expensive error on a cone tank is spec'ing the stand and pad to the water weight and then filling it with something heavier. This is a 1.9 SG tank - dense chemistry can push contents to roughly 8,715 lb, nearly double the 4,587 lb water figure. Size your support to the rated contents weight, and match your gasket to the specific chemical's chart entry rather than to whatever is on the shelf: Viton for oxidizers and strong acids, EPDM for glycols and salts, and Aflas for peracetic acid.
