The Norwesco 1050 Gallon 20 Degree Cone Bottom Tank with Poly Stand (SKU N-40359-C) is a closed-top, white polyethylene tank built for full-drain chemical batching and metering. The 20-degree cone bottom sits on an integrated poly stand so the 2" outlet clears the ground for gravity discharge, and the tank measures 73" in diameter and 86" tall overall. Empty weight is 354 lb, it carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating, a 16" lid, and is FDA Approved. Max service temperature is 120 F / 48 C. If you have searched "1050 gallon" cone bottom tanks or "norwesco tank" options with a stand, this is the closed-top configuration.

Will it hold your batch

The 1.5 SG rating is the number that decides whether this tank fits your chemical. Sizing weights matter for your pad: at capacity with water the tank holds about 8,757 lb of contents, and at its maximum rated contents it is engineered for roughly 13,136 lb. Add the 354 lb empty shell and the slab and legs actually carry about 9,111 lb full of water and up to 13,490 lb at the 1.5-SG maximum. Because a cone-bottom-on-stand puts the entire load on the cone tip and legs, confirm the pad is level and rated for that gross weight before filling. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to match volume to your process, and see the technical drawing on this page for the outlet and lid layout.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin is listed as HDLPE but not yet fully confirmed, so verify HDLPE versus XLPE with us before committing it to chemical service. The following clear the 1.5 SG rating per the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific: Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings), Aluminum Sulfate (50%), Calcium Chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%, 316SS fittings), Ferrous Sulfate (20%), Magnesium Chloride (30%), Sodium Carbonate (30%), Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC fittings), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM). DEF and urea solution only require a 1.35 SG shell, so this 1.5-SG tank carries margin on both. Run PVC or PP fittings with EPDM gaskets on this group unless the chart calls for 316SS, as it does on DEF. Confirm your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting plus gasket material against the OEM chart and our Chemical Compatibility Database.

Chemicals that need a higher-SG tank

The following are NOT a fit for this 1.5 SG tank and require a 1.9 SG tank instead, do not run them in this unit: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. On these, the gasket changes as much as the tank SG: EPDM holds for the salts and glycols, Viton is required on the strong acids and oxidizers (hydrochloric, sulfuric, phosphoric, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite), and peracetic acid needs Aflas. The most common mistake on a cone tank is running a heavy acid like sulfuric or hydrochloric in a 1.5 SG shell, so spec up to a 1.9 SG tank first, filter our Chemical Compatibility Database to 1.9 SG or call us for the equivalent.

This tank ships LTL, quoted live to your ZIP from the nearest Norwesco plant serving your region among Griffin, GA; Hanford, CA; Lancaster, OH; St. Bonifacius, MN; and Tooele, UT.
