What a 300 gallon cone on a stand is for
Three hundred gallons is a day's work for a sprayer or a dosing system: a fertilizer blend mixed and drawn off through the day, a treatment chemical made up in bulk and metered out, a wash or process solution held where it is used. The cone sends the last of the batch and any sediment to the outlet, so the tank changes duty without being scraped out. A 30 degree cone is the middle choice: it drains cleaner than a 15 degree storage cone and stays shorter than a 45 degree mixing cone, and at 61 inches overall the manway is reachable from a short step. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals are the normal loads. Openings, fittings and what to check before you buy
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the point of the cone. A ball valve threads straight in. Fit it before the first fill and support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, for bags, a mixer shaft and a cleaning brush.
- Footprint and floor. Forty-nine inches across. The stand needs a flat, level, continuous floor under all of it, with no drain, joint or slope beneath. A full tank is a concentrated load of well over a ton with water in it; the floor rating is your installer's call, not this page's.
