The Norwesco 1500 gallon multi-use underground tank, part number 44469, is a blue polyethylene tank for burial, 135 inches long, 55 inches wide and 70 inches tall, weighing 556 lb empty. It is one compartment and it comes as a kit: a 4 inch gasketed PVC tee assembly at the inlet, a matching 4 inch gasketed PVC tee at the outlet, and a 20 inch gasketed manway with its cover. What it is used for
Multi-use means the same shell serves as a septic tank, a holding tank or a buried cistern. The tees are what make it a septic tank: the inlet tee breaks the fall of incoming flow and the outlet tee keeps floating solids out of the drain field line. What to check before you buy
- The hole. 135 by 55 inches at the shell, 70 inches tall before any riser. Bed and backfill to Norwesco's installation instructions.
- Pipe size. Both tees are 4 inch; your inlet and outlet lines should match.
- Approval. Your inspector decides for your site; ask before the hole is dug.
- Depth to grade. Measure from the top of the tank to finished grade and pick the extension or riser that closes the gap.
