The Norwesco 1250 gallon multi-use underground liquid storage tank, part number 41752, is a blue polyethylene tank 116 inches long, 55 inches wide and 70 inches tall, weighing 443 lb empty. Multi-use means the same shell works as a septic tank, a pump or holding tank, or a buried cistern. It comes with a 4 inch adapter and PVC tee assembly at the inlet and at the outlet and a 20 inch gasketed manway. Norwesco lists the tank as IAPMO approved and rates it to 130 F, backs it with a 3 year warranty, and lists state septic approval for Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming. Septic, pump tank or cistern
As a septic tank the house drain enters through the inlet tee, solids settle, and clarified effluent leaves through the outlet tee for the drainfield. As a pump or dosing tank it holds effluent between pump cycles for a mound or a pressure field. As a cistern it stores rainwater, hauled water, reclaimed water or a fire reserve; 1250 gallons of water weighs 10425 lb, which is the load the bedding carries when it is full. Openings, fittings and risers
- Inlet and outlet. A 4 inch adapter with a PVC tee assembly at each end, ready for 4 inch drain pipe. The tees keep floating solids off the outlet; they go in before the system is used.
- Manway. A 20 inch gasketed manway with a 20 inch lid. Below grade the gasket keeps groundwater out and gas in.
- Risers to grade. Norwesco's optional risers and extensions, two of each for the two manholes: the N-63514 6 inch extension, N-62397 15 inch extension, N-62396 24 inch extension, N-62395 25 inch riser with 12 inch lid and N-63830 36 inch riser with 6 inch lid. Measure from the tank top to finished grade before you order so the lid lands at the surface.

At the tailgate, check 41752 on the bill of lading against the moulded number, look at both tee assemblies and the manway gasket, and walk the shell for transit cracks before you sign. Set it on the bedding Norwesco's installation instructions call for, fill it with water as you backfill so the walls stay round, and keep vehicles off the ground above it.
