Where a 200 gallon pump tank fits
A pump tank does not treat anything; it stores a dose and sends it on. Two hundred gallons is the size for a single home where the drainfield sits uphill or far from the septic tank, where a mound system needs timed doses, or where a small treatment unit wants a steady feed instead of a surge. What to check before you buy
- The manway. A 20 inch gasketed manway on top. It is the only opening Norwesco lists for this tank, and it is where the pump, the floats and the discharge pipe go in and come out for service. Plan a riser to grade so nobody has to dig to reach the pump.
- Inlet and outlet. No inlet or outlet fittings are listed. The installer cuts the inlet and the discharge where the site needs them, with the seals the local code calls for. Tell us the pipe sizes and we will confirm what to order with the tank.
- Temperature. Rated to 130 F. Normal household effluent is well under that.
- Approval. Norwesco lists state septic approval for this model in every state. Your county may still want its own paperwork; the drawing on this page is usually what they ask for.
- Burial. Follow Norwesco's installation instructions for bedding, backfill and water in the tank during backfill. Never set it under a driveway or anywhere a vehicle will cross without an engineered cover.
