Where a 525 gallon pump tank fits
This is the pump tank for a larger home, a duplex, a small commercial system or any design where the engineer wants timed doses with hours of storage behind them: a drip field, a mound with equal distribution, or a treatment unit that must not be surged. The extra volume over the smaller pump tanks is mostly reserve, which is what keeps an alarm from becoming a backup when the power is out or the pump is waiting on a part. At 59 inches tall it still sets in a modest hole, and the 64 inch diameter is a one-day excavation with a compact machine. What to check before you buy
- The state. Norwesco lists this model's septic approval as Florida only. Outside Florida, order the 500 gallon septic pump tank, which shares this footprint in a different shell.
- The manway. One 20 inch gasketed manway on top for the pump, the floats and the discharge line. Plan a riser to grade so the pump can be pulled without a shovel.
- Inlet and outlet. None are factory installed. The installer cuts the inlet and the discharge where the site needs them, with the seals the county requires. Tell us the pipe sizes and we will confirm what to add to the order.
- Temperature. Rated to 130 F, well above household effluent.
- Burial. Follow Norwesco's installation instructions for bedding and backfill, with water in the tank as you backfill. Keep it clear of drives and vehicle paths unless an engineered cover is in the design. A buried tank that is pumped empty in wet ground wants to float; keep water in it or follow the anti-flotation detail on the design.
