What to check before you buy

1. The tank. This kit is named for the 3135 elliptical leg tank. Confirm the tank from its own part number, not by eye; elliptical leg tanks of neighbouring sizes look alike in a yard and take different hardware.
2. The ladder. The kit adapts Norwesco's leg tank ladder to the 3135. If you are buying the ladder at the same time, put both on one order and tell us the tank; we confirm the pair before it ships.
3. What is in the carton. Norwesco's drawing for the kit is linked on this page under Technical Drawing and shows the parts. Ask us what fasteners come with it so nothing is missing on install day.

Fitting it

Fit the adapter to the ladder on the ground, not on the tank. Lay the ladder flat, attach the kit finger tight, offer the assembly up to the tank with a second person, and only then tighten everything with the ladder sitting where it will live. Hardware tightened before the ladder is in position pulls the ladder out of square. Check that the ladder lands on a leg or a moulded rib of the tank rather than on open wall; a polyethylene shell carries liquid well and point loads badly. Climb it once empty, then once with the tank full, because the shell sits differently under load and a ladder that was plumb on an empty tank can lean on a full one.
