Where it goes

Water hauling is the job: stock water to remote pasture, dust control and compaction water on a site, water for a rural homestead without a well, and bulk water for a fire protection reserve. The 96 by 60 inch footprint fits across a standard flatbed or a tandem-axle trailer, and 49 inches of height keeps the centre of gravity low compared with a vertical tank of the same volume. Full of water the load is 8757 lb before the tank, so the deck, the axles and the hitch rating decide what can carry it, not the tank. Strap it across the body with wide straps at both ends, never through the lid, and give the straps a flat bearing surface. Hauling water is also where sloshing matters: a part-full tank moves its load on every corner and every stop, so run it full or empty when you can. What goes in it

Water is the normal load. The 1.5 rating means a liquid up to 1.5 times the weight of water, 12.52 lb per gallon, which also covers most liquid fertilizers and many common farm chemicals; check anything other than water in our chemical compatibility guide before it goes in. Openings and fittings

1. Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top, wide enough to fill from a hydrant hose or a pump discharge and to drop a suction line in.
2. Outlet. None from the factory. Add a bulkhead fitting low on the end wall nearest the pump; a 2 inch fitting is the usual choice for a hauling tank and a smaller one for a gravity stock line. A bulkhead needs a flat area of wall at least as wide as its flange; dry-fit it before tightening, and tighten by hand plus a quarter turn.
