The Norwesco 100-gallon loaf utility tank is built for crews who need a low, stable water tank that rides flat on a truck bed, trailer, or skid and clears a standard doorway on the way in. At 32" tall, 20" wide, and 48" long, it holds 100 gallons in a White polyethylene body rated to 1.5 specific gravity, with a single 8" threaded lid molded into the top for fill and access. That 20" width is the reason this is called a loaf or doorway tank: it slips through a standard 24"-plus opening, and the 32" height tucks under most truck-bed rails and canopies. The wide 20.0 x 48.0 footprint keeps the load low and the center of gravity down, which is exactly what you want when a 100 gallon loaf tank is moving behind a quad or in the back of a utility vehicle.

Will it work for your job?

Filled with water, this tank weighs about 834 lb. The shell is rated to a 1.5 specific gravity, so its contents can run up to 1,251 lb of denser fluid, not just water. That headroom is the real value here: water only loads it to 834 lb, but the body is engineered for heavier portable contents within its compatibility. Plan your mounting, straps, and vehicle payload around the higher number before you load it. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm this 100 gallon utility tank matches your water volume and your available space.

The fittings you get (and don't)

Be clear on the plumbing before you buy: the technical drawing on this page shows one opening only, the thread for the 8" lid. There is no factory bulkhead, outlet, or pump port. This is a fill-and-access tank with a single 8" threaded top port, so if you need an outlet, a vent, or a pump pickup, plan to drill and install those yourself, and select any fittings and gaskets for the specific fluid you intend to carry. The polyethylene body and the 1.5 SG rating are the OEM interface; everything downstream of the lid is buyer-added.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error with a loaf-style portable tank is treating it as a permanent transport vessel without checking how it's classified for over-the-road use. Norwesco loaf tanks are built for utility and agricultural water hauling, and the rules around farm-fleet use and DOT classification are worth reading before you put one on a public road. See the guide to 49 CFR 1735 agricultural exemption and DOT classification for farm-fleet detail, and the Norwesco doorway and loaf sizing guide if you're choosing between sizes from 100 to 1000 gallon. For static jobs like a rural fire-water reservoir or a tank set on a pad, the concrete pad sizing guide walks through proper support.
