Where a wide, low 1000 fits
Buy this shape when height is the limit: under a deck or a low roof, beside a single storey house where a taller tank would stand above the eave, inside a barn bay with a low door, or anywhere you want to fill, inspect and clean from the ground without a ladder. The trade is footprint. The 72 inch base needs a flat, level, continuous surface a little more than six feet across; because it carries 12510 lb at full rating, a concrete pad or well compacted gravel is the right foundation, not blocks or pallets. What goes in it
Water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Keep the contents below 120 F and below 1.5 times the weight of water; heavier liquids belong in Norwesco's heavy duty tanks. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Turn the tank so the outlet faces the pipe run before the first fill, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. On a 66 inch tank it is at head height, so filling from a hose, dropping a float in and getting a brush inside need no ladder. The vent lets air out as you fill and in as you draw down; never plug it.
