Where a 64 by 80 inch tank fits

At 64 inches across, this tank takes up a little over five feet of floor, and at 80 inches tall the manway sits just under seven feet up, so you can reach it from a short step without a ladder. That makes it the usual pick for a well house, a pump shed, a rainwater collection point beside a barn, or a backup water supply behind a house. It needs a flat, level, continuous surface under the whole bottom: a poured pad, a compacted gravel bed with a sand cap, or a concrete slab that is already there. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the sidewall. A 2 inch ball valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in. Dry-fit the valve, point it where the pipe will run, then tighten; support the first length of pipe on its own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. Wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump line, to drop a float switch in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in and out as the level moves; never plumb the tank so that vent is blocked.
3. Liquid and temperature. Keep the contents at or below 120 F and at or below 1.5 specific gravity. Heavier liquids belong in the heavy duty version listed below.
