Where the short tank wins
Headroom decides this purchase. At 59 inches the tank clears a standard basement ceiling with room to open the lid, and at 35 inches across it passes through a standard three foot doorway standing up, with an inch to spare; measure the frame, not the door. That makes it the usual pick for a household water reserve, a well pressure system buffer, a treatment chemical day tank in a plant room, or a greenhouse mix tank under a bench line. The base must be flat and continuous out to the full 35 inch edge, with nothing packed under one side; a rotomolded floor bears on whatever touches it. Strap it to a wall before the first fill even though it is a stable shape, because a knock from a cart or a mower is the usual way a plastic tank meets a concrete floor. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm, household treatment and wash-down chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the tank wall carries liquid, not hardware.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: enough to fill from a hose, drop a float switch in, and get a hand inside with a brush. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
- Height for the fill. With the lid at 59 inches, most people fill this tank by hand or from a hose without a step. If you are piping a fill line in, tell us and we can add a second bulkhead at the factory.
