The Bushman 2650 Gallon Rainwater Harvesting Tank in Dark Brown (SKU 40035) is a vertical polyethylene storage tank built for collecting and holding harvested rainwater at homes, farms, and remote sites. It measures 102 inches across the base with an 80-inch height, giving it a broad, stable 102.0 x 102.0-inch footprint that spreads the load of a full tank. The dark brown color blends into landscaping and reduces light transmission into the stored water, which helps keep algae growth down in a rainwater catchment system.

Will it work for your site?

Before this tank arrives, the go/no-go test is simple: you need a level pad at least 102" x 102" rated for roughly 22,100 pounds. This is a 2,650-gallon vertical tank, and water weighs about 8.34 pounds per gallon, so it carries about 22,101 pounds at full capacity. That load has to sit on a properly prepared, level base — see our concrete pad sizing guide for the ACI 360R-10 framework that keeps an above-ground poly tank flat and supported. If you are still working out how much storage your roof area and rainfall can supply, our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide walk through the math, and our state-by-state rainwater sizing guide covers regional rules and rainfall.

Getting the outlet and seal right

The technical drawing on this page shows a single 1" NPT bulkhead outlet. A bulkhead is a gasketed through-wall connection, so the gasket is the one water-tight seal on that port — snug it per Bushman's torque guidance and re-check it after the first fill. Confirm your pump line terminates in a 1" NPT male thread so it mates cleanly, and plan around the flow that single port allows: a 1" outlet caps the draw rate. If you need higher delivery for irrigation zones or fire duty, size the pump around that 1" port before ordering rather than assuming a larger connection is present. For fire-protection duty on a rural property, review our fire-water reservoir design guide for NFPA 22 sizing and cold-climate freeze protection, since fire service is flow-sensitive.

Getting a rainwater system right

A large collection tank is only as clean as the water entering it. Size a first-flush diverter to send the initial dirty runoff to waste before it reaches the tank — our Bushman first-flush diverter guide follows the Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting (3rd Edition). The most common mistake on a tank this size is treating the outlet as an afterthought: the single 1" NPT bulkhead sets the flow you can draw, so build your pump and delivery plumbing around it from the start.
