The Norwesco 60 Gallon 57 Degree Cone Bottom Inductor Tank (SKU N-42066) is a white polyethylene cone-bottom tank built for batching, mixing, and draining liquids completely. The steep 57-degree cone forces solids and residue toward the outlet so the tank empties more completely than the 45-degree cone-bottom tanks in our linked buyer's guides - the reason inductor tanks earn their place in chemical metering and day-tank service. It stands 42 inches tall on a 24 x 24 inch footprint, holds 60 gallons, and carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating, meaning the polyethylene wall is engineered for liquids up to 1.5 times the weight of water.

Will it work for your job?

Match the tank to your liquid by weight, not just volume. Filled with water this tank carries about 500 lb; at its maximum rated 1.5 specific gravity it is built to hold up to 751 lb of contents. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm your liquid's weight stays inside that envelope before you order. Because it is a cone-bottom design, plan for a stand or skirt to support the tank and provide clearance under the outlet - the footprint measures 24.0 x 24.0 inches. Refer to the technical drawing on this page for fitting locations and overall geometry. Note that bulkhead and outlet fittings are not specified with this tank and must be selected to match your chemical - the correct PVC, PP, CPVC, or 316SS fitting and gasket are what turn the polyethylene wall into a complete chemical-service assembly.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene tank with a 1.5 specific gravity rating. The exact resin is recorded in our data but not yet confirmed, so verify the HDLPE versus XLPE construction with us before putting it into chemical service. At the 1.5 SG rating, the following chemicals are compatible at the listed concentrations when paired with the correct fitting and gasket materials - always verify against the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific:

If you are running DEF (32.5%) or urea solution (50%), both are at home on this 1.5 SG tank - DEF on 316SS-wetted hardware and urea on PP/PVC - so there is no need to step up to a heavier wall for those two.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error is reaching for the 1.5 SG tank when the chemical demands a heavier wall. The following run at these concentrations only in a higher 1.9 specific gravity tank, not this one - note the gasket each one requires:

Watch the wetted materials, not just the SG: sulfuric acid is the lone case here calling for CPVC fittings, peracetic acid the lone case calling for an Aflas gasket, and the strong oxidizers and acids generally want Viton rather than EPDM. Check your chemical, concentration, and required SG in our Chemical Compatibility Database before ordering.

This tank ships LTL freight, and we route it from whichever of the eleven Norwesco molding plants is closest to your delivery ZIP - Burnet TX, Fairfield TX, Griffin GA, Hanford CA, Lancaster OH, Owego NY, Shawnee OK, Sheldon IA, St. Bonifacius MN, Tooele UT, and Washougal WA - to keep LTL distance and cost down, with the carrier cost quoted live to your ZIP. Get your number from the Freight Cost Estimator or call us at 866-418-1777, and see our cone-bottom inductor tank buyer's guides if you are still comparing cone angles and capacities.
