Why the wide 60
Sixty gallons is the size where an inductor tank stops being a sprayer accessory and becomes a piece of the plant: a daily make-up of a treatment chemical, a feed solution for a dosing pump, a fertilizer blend for a day's application. This tank spends its gallons on diameter rather than height, so the manway sits low and loading a bag of product is easy, and a mixer has a wide surface to work. The trade is the cone: at 45 degrees it is a little slower to empty the last of a heavy suspension than the 57 degree tank of the same volume. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals are the normal loads. Check anything else in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; urea solution, calcium chloride, aluminum sulfate, sodium carbonate and acetic acid are the entries inductor tank buyers ask about most. Openings, fittings and what to check before you buy
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the point of the cone. Your ball valve threads straight in. Fit it before the first fill and support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough for a bag of powder, a mixer shaft and a cleaning brush.
- The stand. Norwesco pairs this tank with stand N-62204. A 45 degree cone sits in a 45 degree cradle; the stand for the 57 degree 60 gallon tank will not fit this one.
